ArchitectureTravels – Your Guide to Architectural Art and Culture

We are an editorial team dedicated to exploring significant buildings, historical sites, and inspiring travel destinations. Our focus lies on the connection between architecture, history, and culture – for those who want to look beyond the facades and understand the stories of the stones.

Our work is aimed at travelers, architecture enthusiasts, and culture lovers who seek more than superficial sights. We analyze construction methods, classify styles, and show how societies are reflected in their buildings. Each article is the result of careful research and personal encounter with the place. We visit churches, palaces, settlements, and modern centers – always with the goal of making the architectural and cultural significance understandable. Our tone is factual but inviting. We avoid sensational promises and instead rely on well-founded content that inspires personal discovery. ArchitectureTravels is not a travel agency, but a magazine for curious minds.

Our Development

From Idea to Platform

Since our founding, we have specialized in mediating architecture and culture. Every step has been marked by a passion for historic buildings and inspiring travel destinations.

2015

Founding and First Explorations

Jasmin Franz and Ing. Valentin Herbst started the project with a small website and personal guided tours through the old town of Salzburg. The first travel reports about Gothic cathedrals quickly found a loyal readership.

2017

Network Expansion

Through collaborations with local historians and architects in Vienna and Graz, we expanded our offering to include thematic travel routes. The number of monthly visitors rose to over 15,000.

2019

Magazine Relaunch and Focus on Sustainability

The platform received a new, editorial design. We began to focus more on sustainable cultural tourism and published the first issue of our digital magazine "Stone & Light".

2021

Award and International Reach

Our contribution to the digital mediation of UNESCO World Heritage sites was awarded the "Digital Culture Prize". The community grew to over 50,000 subscribers.

2023

New Formats and Permanent Editorial Team

With Anja Rechberger as editor-in-chief and Daniel Pammer for visual design, we launched a podcast series and interactive 3D tours. Today, the platform is the first point of contact for architecture enthusiasts in German-speaking countries.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers on architecture, historical sites, and travel planning – clear and without beating around the bush.

Which architectural eras are covered on the site?

We present buildings from antiquity to the modern era – with a focus on Gothic, Renaissance, Classicism, and Modernism. Each era is explained using specific examples and its distinctive features.

How do I find suitable travel destinations for an architecture vacation?

Use our overviews sorted by region and stylistic period. Each location includes a brief description of the main buildings, how to get there, and the recommended visiting time. This allows you to plan your trip purposefully.

Are all the featured locations open to the public?

Yes, we only list sights that can be visited regularly. For churches, castles, or museums, we provide opening hours and information on admission regulations. Current restrictions are noted.

We update the articles regularly. In the case of major renovations or closures, the text is adjusted promptly. An editorial date at the end of each article shows the status of the information.
